About my Creative + Faith Journey
“And after a while the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.” - 1 Kings 17:7 ESV
I have enjoyed my 25 yrs at my current company but I feel it's time for a change. I'm not ready to retire but I am very ready for a change in my work. My prayer to God is that He will bless to be able to leave my company before my next birthday.
What does a brook drying up look like?
For the last 25 years at this company, I've been blessed to work in IT, Customer Experience, Solutions/Sales, and now Marketing. One of the things I like about working at a large company is the ability to move into different roles a I became interested in them. Whenever I got bored with what I was doing, I could always find something else that interested me to do. The only orgs left that I have not worked in are Accounting, Finance, Legal - none of which interest me.
Until two years ago, my work came easy to me. No matter what role or organization I was in, I always knew exactly what needed to be done and could do it. I know what the company should do in any given situation. I interviewed for and got my current position in e-commerce strategy in March 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic. It has been a struggle everyday to know what my role was vs others in the org who seem to be working on the same thing. The company is also facing some challenges in attracting customers. While we know exactly why that is, how we grow around these until we fix them, I have no idea and it's frustrating.
So what do I want to do?
I want to support myself with my own business venture that will give me more control over my time and more income. I've been dabbling in creative ventures all my adult life and made a little money...but never enough to 'quit my day job."
This journey is about prayerfully exploring my creative point-of-view, different genres, and business opportunities to find the right one for me at this time. Plenttiful.com is both a blog and an online store to share everything that I create.
